Hi there,

My name is El, I'm 27 and a bride-to-be. I'm also a web developer and in the process of setting up a wedding community website called "Wedding Wishes" at http://www.weddingwishes.co

I'm looking to get the ball rolling and encourage some communication on the forums before I actually launch the site, and as such, I'd love to invite the community to join for free and even receive a couple of freebies I picked up while doing some marketing for work. There's a fantastic ebook worth $40 that you can download for free that claims to save you thousands. Not sure how accurate that is in practice, but I've read it and it is actually really good... and really very free!

Anyway, I'd love to see all of you over at Wedding Wishes to claim your membership and free goodies. Feel free to add my personal journal or message me if you have any questions or need a hand.

I apologise if some of you got caught in a cross-post or if this isn't an appropriate intro. Mods - please delete this message if you feel it lacks value to the community.

Wonderful to meet you all,
El

Hey guys :)

We are a national alternative, non-traditional, vintage style wedding videography company. We shoot weddings nationwide with some partners, but our main office is in Ambler. Nice to see a Pennsylvania community group!

I just wanted to share some of our unique films, they might help the wedding planning process with some ideas:

I'm planning on having a Classic Hollywood era themed wedding but the hardest part is locating a venue. None of my friends seem to understand the importance of this. Mood of the venue sets the tone.

So I'm looking for something like this:

Allentown Wedding Chapel - this kind of looks like someone just coverted the first parlor of their house into a wedding chapel, but might work for someone: http://www.allentownweddingchapel.com/index.html

Just found this place: http://www.lehighbar.org/BARRISTERSCLUB.html which is very pretty. I checked them out last year but they didn't have any pictures up then.

Also, this place seems new (or at least has a new website): http://www.phoenixvillefoundry.com/weddings.php

Also in Phoenixville (a converted train station): http://www.weddings-delval.com/columbiastation/

Hi everyone,

I seriously need help! My dear friend is getting married in September and it's time to give her a bridal shower. We have some key issues going on and I want to find a place that will suit all needs. I am planning this with the maid of honor, by the way.

1) The mother has stated that it's 'not her place' to plan it. No aunts have offered to help or live far away and her grandmothers are deceased.
2) We have a limited budget of about $400 pooled together from a few bridesmaids who wish to contribute.
3) No one who would host the shower is a homeowner. We all live in apartments, with parents/boyfriends etc.
4) The bride's wedding is black tie and I know she has high expectations. So does her mother, who hasn't contributed anything.
5) We're guessing around 35 ladies including bride and bridesmaids will actually be able to attend.

I was thinking of how much we could do with $400 if we had it in someone's home...we could have everything catered and we could buy/make nice decorations. It would also match the bride's expectations.

We tried a few restaurants, but we really can't afford them. The only person who can host the shower lives in Maryland, and the bride is also having health issues. Plus, we can't really expect all guests to drive to Maryland from Philadelphia. I do not think many people would show.

I just tried calling the church in which she'll be married. I know the bride will feel comfy there and it is fancy and up to her standards. We could have probably afforded full catering plus a donation to the church for a rental.

We are pretty open to weekend dates. We are looking for a venue in the Ft. Washington/Horsham/Willow Grove area because that is where most of the guests live. We could go further out (Doylestown area) or into the city, but that would probably be more expensive.

Please!! Help!! Any suggestions?!

I am getting married on a Sunday (May 25th to be exact). The reception will be over at 8:30 pm and I wanted to find something to do after the wedding for anyone willing to continue the party. The problem is I am having difficulty finding things local to Media, PA that are open late on Sunday. Any input or help will be appreciated.

So we are looking for something fun to do following our wedding.
Sunday, May 25th
Media, PA
after 8:30 pm
